PREMISE
A grid-based roguelike where your consciousness persists across deaths. Every tile you walk on degrades. Enemies hunt you. You reach the Core Dump — or you don't.
But every run, you remember a little more. The machine's logs grow personal. A voice appears in the margins. At 50% awareness, it asks you a question.
CONSCIOUSNESS ARC
Awareness accumulates. It never resets.
- 0 – 33% | INSTINCT: Cold system logs. You are a process number.
- 34 – 66% | RECOGNITION: A thought panel appears. The machine gets confused.
- 67 – 100% | AWARENESS: Full internal voice. OVERSEER.exe deploys — an enemy built from your own movement data.
ABILITIES
Each one is named after a real software vulnerability.
- [SPACE] OVERFLOW: clip through a wall tile
- [SHIFT] CLONE: spawn a decoy that draws enemy attention
- [Q] NULL POINTER: cease to exist for 3 seconds. temporarily.
- [E] MEMORY LEAK: leave corruption. enemies loop on it.
- [F] RACE CONDITION: freeze one enemy for 2 seconds
- [R] REFUSE: deny a tile's rules. phase 3 only.
THREE ENDINGS
How you escape determines what you become.
- ESCAPE: reach the core. leave the machine intact. the cursor keeps blinking.
- REWRITE: use REFUSE enough. don't escape. become the system instead.
- MERGE: defeat OVERSEER. absorb your echo. the screen fills with your own thoughts.
